Squirrel Nut Zippers Hartford Concert reviews
Black Keys great, Consol not so great
The show lacked a certain energy as a result. However, the Squirrel Nut Zippers were really good -- didn't disappoint at all. The sound was a bit fuzzy -- I attribute that to the Consol Center sound system. I'd love to see them in a smaller venue. There was too much space and the Consol was a bit too big of a venue for them. It was comical that the Lips' lead singer was trying to get the crowd energized for the Keys in between the most depressing, slow and down songs one could imagine. The Flaming Lips were nothing short of terrible. Poor choice for an opening act for this particular show.
